Hattori Gloves Size Guide

Thanks to strict quality control, Hattori gloves run true to their marketed size

Boxing gloves will naturally conform to the shape of your hand as you break them in. After 15–30 rounds on the heavy bag, The Hattoris will copy the structure of your fist and allow for ideal wrist, knuckle, and thumb position.

10 oz gloves are ideal for boxers with small hands and those who want to work on their speed while reducing strain on their shoulders. We do NOT recommend using 10 oz gloves for sparring – unless you weigh less than 55 kg (122 lbs). Such gloves do not offer enough padding to provide sufficient protection to your sparring partner.

Boxers who want to have a great amount of punch feedback will greatly benefit from this size of gloves.

Recommended use: Mitts and Heavy Bag

12 oz gloves are popular among boxers with slightly below-average hands. Depending on the experience level, boxers under 65 kg (144 lbs) may use these for technical sparring as well.

12 oz give a good pop on the heavy bag while giving more knuckle protection than 10 oz gloves.

Recommended for: All-round training (Men under 65 kg and Women)

14 oz size is the most popular choice among boxers – a larger layer of foam over the knuckles provides increased protection to your sparring partners and therefore is recommended for all boxers under 75 kg (165 lbs). Added weight can be beneficial to build shoulder endurance and punching power.

For beginners, 14 oz size can be the one-size-fits-all that they are looking for. They can use them for mitt- and bagwork as well as sparring.

Boxers with average and above-average hands will find 14 ounce gloves comfortable.

Recommended for: All-round training, Sparring (boxers under 75 kg), Beginners

16 oz size is the ideal choice for a sparring-only glove. Boxing gloves absorb a larger amount of punch force to provide solid protection to your sparring partner. Most professionals use 16 oz for long sparring sessions.

Spacious hand compartment offers enough room for you to use additional knuckle pads, hybrid hand wraps, or professional tapes.

If you wish to use these gloves for sparring only – we recommend you don't use these gloves for bag work after your break-in period (15–30 rounds).

Recommended for: Sparring (75 kg / 165 lbs and over), Individuals with big hands
